REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10170

AN ACT REAPPORTIONING THE SECOND (2nd) LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT OF QUEZON CITY, THEREBY CREATING TWO (2) ADDITIONAL LEGISLATIVE DISTRICTS AND TWELVE (12) SANGGUNIANG PANLUNGSOD SEATS FROM SUCH REAPPORTIONMENT

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

Section 1. Reapportionment of the Second (2nd) Legislative District. – The Second (2nd) Legislative District of Quezon City is hereby reapportioned, in order to create two (2) additional legislative districts to commence in the next national and local elections after the effectivity of this Act.

In furtherance of the reapportionment mandated by this Act, the Second (2nd) Legislative District of Quezon City is hereby reapportioned as follows:

SECOND (2ND) LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT:

(a) Barangay Bagong Silangan

(b) Barangay Batasan Hills

(c) Barangay Commonwealth

(d) Barangay Holy Spirit

(e) Barangay Payatas

FIFTH (5TH) LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT:

(a) Barangay Bagbag

(b) Barangay Capri

(c) Barangay Greater Lagro

(d) Barangay Gulod

(e) Barangay Kaligayahan

(f) Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon

(g) Barangay North Fairview

(h) Barangay Novaliches Proper

(i) Barangay Pasong Putik Proper

(j) Barangay San Agustin

(k) Barangay San Bartolome

(l) Barangay Santa Lucia

(m) Barangay Santa Monica

(n) Barangay Fairview

SIXTH (6TH) LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT:

(a) Barangay Apolonio Samson

(b) Barangay Baesa

(c) Barangay Balon-Bato

(d) Barangay Culiat

(e) Barangay New Era

(f) Barangay Pasong Tamo

(g) Barangay Sangandaan

(h) Barangay Tandang Sora

(i) Barangay Unang Sigaw

(j) Barangay Sauyo

(k) Barangay Talipapa

The composition of the current First (1st), Third (3rd) and Fourth (4th) Legislative Districts of Quezon City shall not be affected by the reapportionment mandated by this Act.

Section 2. Sangguniang Panlungsod. – In accordance with the reapportionment mandated by this Act, there shall be elected in the next national and local elections after the effectivity of this Act, six (6) regular Sangguniang Panlungsod members representing each of the Fifth (5th) and Sixth (6th) Legislative Districts of Quezon City.

Section 3. Incumbent Representative and Sangguniang Panlungsod Members. – The incumbent Representative and Sangguniang Panlungsod members of the Second (2nd) Legislative District of Quezon City shall continue to hold office until the new Representatives and Sangguniang Panlungsod members shall have been elected and qualified.

Section 4. Implementing Rules and Regulations. – The Commission on Elections shall issue the necessary rules and regulations to implement this Act.

Section 5. Repealing Clause. – All laws, rules and regulations which are inconsistent with this Act are hereby repealed, amended or modified accordingly.

Section 6. Effectivity. – This Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in any newspaper of general circulation.

This Act which originated in the House of Representatives was finally passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate on March 22, 2011 and May 15, 2012, respectively.
