DECLARING APO ISLAND AND ITS SURROUNDING WATERS SITUATED WITHIN THE MUNICIPALITY OF ZAMBOANGUITA, PROVINCE OF NEGROS ORIENTAL AS PROTECTED LANDSCAPE/SEASCAPE.
Upon the recommendation of the Secretary, Department of Environment and Natural Resources and pursuant to the authority vested in me by law, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby reserve, for the benefit and enjoyment of the people of the Philippines, and in order to protect the area from all destructive activities, the Apo Island and its surrounding waters as Protected Landscape/Seascape situated within the municipality of Zamboanguita, Province of Negros Oriental, subject to private rights if any there be, with geographic coordinates as follows:

to Pt. 2 9°523" N latitude, 123°1540?E longitude
to Pt. 3 9°536" N latitude, 123°1609?E longitude
to Pt. 4 9°517" N latitude, 123°1649?E longitude
to Pt. 5 9°439" N latitude, 123°1701?E longitude
to Pt. 6 9°405" N latitude, 123°1637?E longitude
to Pt. 7 9°341" N latitude, 123°1601?E longitude
to Pt. 8 9°402" N latitude, 123°1533?E longitude
to Pt. 1 9°436" N latitude, 123°1527?E longitude
containing an area of 691.45 hectares more or less as marine protected area.1aшphi1
The area shall be known as “Apo Island Protected Landscape/Seascape” and shall be under the administration and control of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in coordination with the local government units pursuant to Republic Act No. 7586 (NIPAS Act of 1992).
The area is established and reserved for the purpose of protecting and conserving ecological, scientific, educational, economic and recreational values of the area. Sustainable development of the area shall be pursued to address the social and economic needs of the local communities without causing adverse impact on the environment.
The destruction of the coral reef ecosystem or the conduct of other activities which could disturb or destroy this ecosystem and the resources found therein are hereby prohibited.
