[ Proclamation No. 504, December 11, 1989 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM DECEMBER 14-21, 1989, AS NATIONAL SHELTER WEEK

WHEREAS, the Government has instituted the National Shelter Program to address the massive problem of housing, particularly for the Urban Poor;

WHEREAS, it is necessary to focus the attention of all citizens on the problem and secure participation and cooperation of all sectors to this problem; and

WHEREAS, the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council is mandated under Executive Order No. 90 to coordinate all efforts for housing;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period December 14-21, 1989, as National Shelter Week under the auspices of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council and in cooperation with the other shelter agencies of the government and the private sector that are participating in the national effort to respond to the housing needs of the Urban Poor.
