[ Proclamation No. 497, November 28, 1989 ]

DECLARING 1990 AS NATIONAL CENSUS YEAR

WHEREAS, Batas Pambansa Blg. 72, “An Act Providing For the Taking Of An Integrated Census Every Ten Years Beginning In The Year Nineteen Hundred And Eighty, And For Other Purposes”, provides for the conduct of a national census of population and other related data every decade beginning in 1980;

WHEREAS, pursuant to the aforesaid law, the Census Population and Housing (CPH) will be taken in 1990;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare 1990 as “NATIONAL CENSUS YEAR”.

I call upon all heads of Departments of the Government and its agencies and instrumentalities, including government-owned or controlled corporations, as well as local government units, and all citizens to give this activity their support and cooperation so that the success of this undertaking may be ensured.
