DECLARING JANUARY 21 TO 27, 1990 AND THE FOURTH WEEK OF JANUARY OF EVERY YEAR AS “NATIONAL ENERGY WEEK”

WHEREAS, the government is cognizant of the importance of energy for national economic growth and development;

WHEREAS, in order to promote economic growth and development, the government has embarked on an energy program aimed at exploiting and utilizing indigenous energy sources with the end in view of ultimately attaining energy self-reliance;

WHEREAS, it is imperative to focus public awareness and attention to the energy program of the government and likewise encourage the public to actively participate and contribute to the enhancement of the same;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare January 21 to 27, 1990 and, thereafter, the fourth week of January of every year as “National Energy Week”, under the auspices of the Office of Energy Affairs (OEA).
