[ Proclamation No. 489, November 14, 1989 ]

AMENDING PROCLAMATION NO. 479 DECLARING THE EXISTENCE OF A STATE OF PUBLIC CALAMITY IN CERTAIN AREAS OF REGIONS III, IV, V AND ALL CITIES AND MUNICIPALITIES OF THE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION

WHEREAS, in a certification dated November 10, 1989, the Administrator of the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) states that pursuant to late reports coming from Batangas, the City of Lipa was also heavily affected by typhoon “Saling” last October 11, 1989;

WHEREAS, as certified also by the DSWD City Social Welfare Officer and the Chairman, City Disaster Coordinating Council, Lipa City, typhoon “Saling” inflicted damage to real estate, agricultural crops and personal properties in said City;

WHEREAS, a state of public calamity exists in the aforesaid City arising from the effects of typhoon “Saling;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby amend Proclamation No. 479, declaring the existence of a state of public calamity in certain areas of Regions III, IV, V and all cities and municipalities of the National Capital Region to include therein the City of Lipa in Batangas province.
