DECLARING OCTOBER 12, 1989, AS THE “NATIONAL BREASTFEEDING DAY”

WHEREAS, Breastfeeding is a God-given natural resource to nurture life;

WHEREAS, Breastfeeding responds to the right of every child and pregnant and lactating mother to be adequately nourished as a means of attaining and maintaining health;

WHEREAS, Breastfeeding is unequalled in providing ideal food for the health growth and development of infants, and in building a unique biological and emotional basis for the health of both mother and child;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare October 12, 1989, as the “National Breastfeeding Day”.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
