[ Proclamation No. 433, July 27, 1989 ]

AMENDING PROCLAMATION NO. 429 DATED JULY 19, 1989 DECLARING THE EXISTENCE OF A STATE OF PUBLIC CALAMITY IN CERTAIN AREAS OF REGIONS I AND II TO INCLUDE THEREIN THE MUNICIPALITIES OF MALITA, DAVAO DEL SUR AND SUDIPEN, LA UNION.

WHEREAS, according to the Secretary of National Defense and Chairman, National Disaster Coordinating Council, Malita, Davao del Sur, sustained heavy damage to properties and infrastructures as a result of big waves that battered several coastal towns of Davao del Sur, attributed to the ferocity of the northeasterly winds, and that Sudipen, La Union, was also heavily hit by typhoon “Goring”; and

WHEREAS, there is urgent need to facilitate the restoration and rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure and agricultural losses and extension of shelter assistance to the affected residents in the said municipalities.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby amend Proclamation No. 429 dated July 19, 1989 declaring the existence of a state of public calamity in certain areas of Regions I and II to include therein the municipalities of Malita, Davao del Sur and Sudipen, La Union.
