DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER 13-19, 1989 AS “ASEAN ECONOMIC COOPERATION WEEK”

WHEREAS, the Philippine Economic Society is a non-stock, non-profit professional organization of Philippine economists, whose primary mission is to foster and encourage professional and social relations among economists in the Philippines and to seek to improve the standards of economic research and instruction in the Philippines;

WHEREAS, the Philippine Economic Society will host the 14th Annual Meeting of the Federation of ASEAN Economic Associations (FAEA) on November 16-18, 1989 at the Manila Hotel, wherein various economists from the ASEAN region will convene to promote greater understanding of the economic issues confronting the ASEAN; and

WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper to dedicate a period to focus attention on the ASEAN’s unified attempts to foster economic cooperation for regional development;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from November 13-19, 1989, as “ASEAN ECONOMIC COOPERATION WEEK” under the auspices of the Philippine Economic Society.
