DECLARING THE YEAR 1989 AS “NATIONAL RED CROSS YEAR”

WHEREAS, through its humanitarian ideals, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement unites millions of members of every race, creed and social background;

WHEREAS, these organizations were founded to protect life and health and to ensure respect for the human being as well as to promote mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace amongst all peoples; and

WHEREAS, there is a need to focus public awareness of the contribution of the Red Cross to world peace and the commitment of the government in support of its humanitarian goals;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the Year 1989 as “National Red Cross Year” under the auspices of the Philippine National Red Cross.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
