[ Proclamation No. 397, April 3, 1989 ]

DECLARING JULY 1 AS PHILIPPINE AIR FORCE DAY

WHEREAS, the Philippine Air Force has been celebrating its anniversary every May 2, the day when Lt. William Lee, a US Air Corp flight instructor, test-flew a Philippine-assembled Stearman 73L-3 biplane in 1936;

WHEREAS, a study made by the Philippine Air Force shows that July 1 is the appropriate Philippine Air Force Day, as it was July 1, 1947 that the then Philippine Army Air Corps was “converted into the Philippine Air Force and raised to the category of a Major Command” pursuant to Section 110 of Executive Order No. 94 which took effect July 1, 1947;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare July 1 of every year as Philippine Air Force Day.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
