[ Proclamation No. 392, March 21, 1989 ]

MODIFYING PROCLAMATION NO. 390, SERIES OF 1989, ENTITLED “SETTING THE DATE FOR THE HOLDING OF PLEBISCITE TO DECIDE THE CREATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF LIMASAWA, PROVINCE OF SOUTHERN LEYTE”

WHEREAS, Proclamation No. 390, dated March 17, 1989, directs that: “[O]n March 28, 1989, a plebiscite shall be held in all barangays and sitios in the island of Limasawa in the Municipality of Padre Burgos, Province of Southern Leyte, to determine whether the said barangays shall become a new municipality to be known as the Municipality of Limasawa, Province of Southern Leyte;”

WHEREAS, the Department of Local Government has requested that the aforesaid plebiscite be held on a date to be determined by the Commission on Elections but not later than May 31, 1989 and clarified the extent of the units directly affected by the creation of the Municipality of Limasawa;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order that a plebiscite shall be held in all the barangays and sitios in the Municipality of Padre Burgos, Province of Southern Leyte to determine whether all the barangays and sitios comprising the Island of Limasawa in the Municipality of Padre Burgos shall become a new municipality to be known as the Municipality of Limasawa, Province of Southern Leyte.

The Commission on Elections shall determine the date of the plebiscite which shall not be later than May 31, 1989, and shall supervise the conduct thereof.1aшphi1

Proclamation No. 390, s. of 1989, is hereby modified accordingly.
