DECLARING THE MONTH OF JANUARY OF EVERY YEAR AS “ATI-ATIHAN MONTH” IN THE PROVINCE OF AKLAN.
WHEREAS, the Province of Aklan celebrates the Ati-Atihan Festival every month of January to depict and commemorate the way of life during the period when the ten (10) Bornean Datus landed on and purchased the Island of Panay to settle thereon for a life of peace and freedom;
WHEREAS, the Ati-Atihan Festival focuses on the beautiful Filipino traits, customs, and traditions, as well as the rich cultural heritage of Aklan as a province; and
WHEREAS, Ati-Atihan Festival has contributed much in the promotion of our tourism industry;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the month of January of every year as “ATI-ATIHAN MONTH” in the province of Aklan.1aшphi1
