[ Proclamation No. 140, August 14, 1987 ]
PROCLAIMING A STATE OF PUBLIC CALAMITY IN CERTAIN AREAS IN THE COUNTRY WHICH WERE AFFECTED BY TYPHOON “HERMING”.
WHEREAS, great damage and destruction to life and property were brought about typhoon “Herming” in certain area in the country; and
WHEREAS, a state of public calamity exists in these areas arising from the effect of the typhoon;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby proclaim that a state of public calamity exists in the following areas in the country:
Region IV |
Marinduque, Batangas and Quezon |
Region V |
Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Sorsogon, Albay, Catanduanes and Masbate |
Region VIII |
Eastern Samar, Western Samar, Northern Samar, Leyte and Southern Leyte |
All departments and other government agencies concerned are hereby directed to implement and execute rescue, relief and rehabilitation work in accordance with existing operational plans and the directive and order issued in connection with calamities.
