DECLARING JULY 31, 1986, AND EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER, AS “BATTLE OF PAYE DAY ” IN BOAC, MARINDUQUE.
WHEREAS, Thursday, July 31, 1986, marks the 86th anniversary of the “Battle of Paye” in Boac, Marinduque;
WHEREAS, the “Battle of Paye ” is the first officially recorded encounter between the United States Troops and the Filipino Revolutionary Force in the Island of Marinduque wherein the latter inspite of poor weaponry emerged victorious; and
WHEREAS, the commemoration of the “Battle of Paye” will inculcate in the minds of the Marinduqueños a sense of involvement and justifiable pride in our continuous quest for freedom and justice;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare July 31, 1986, and every year thereafter, as “Battle of Paye Day” in Boac, Marinduque. The day, however, shall be a regular working and school day.
