[ Proclamation No. 1935, December 19, 1979 ]

SETTING THE DATE FOR THE HOLDING OF A PLEBISCITE TO DECIDE THE CREATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF DON MARCELINO, PROVINCE OF DAVAO DEL SUR.

WHEREAS, Batas Pambansa Bilang 47, approved on December 19, 1979, provides for the creation of the Municipality of Don Marcelino, Province of Davao del Sur, out of the barangays of Talagutong, Lawa, Nueva Villa, Calian, Lamidan, and Kiobog, all in the Municipality of Malita, Province of Davao del Sur;

WHEREAS, the aforesaid law also provides that a plebiscite shall be held in the areas affected within a period of ninety (90) days from the approval of the said Act, to determine whether the barangays specified therein shall become a new municipality to be known as the Municipality of Don Marcelino;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law and pursuant to Batas Pambansa Bilang 47, do hereby, direct the following:

(1) On February 21, 1980 a plebiscite shall be held in the barangays of Talagutong, Lawa, Nueva Villa, Calian, Lamidan, and Kiobog, all in the Municipality of Malita, Davao del Sur, to determine whether the said barangays shall become a new municipality to be known as the Municipality of Don Marcelino, Province of Davao del Sur.

(2) The Commission on Elections shall supervise the conduct of the aforesaid plebiscite and shall promulgate the rules and regulations necessary to implement this proclamation.1aшphi1
