SETTING THE DATE FOR HOLDING OF A PLEBISCITE TO DECIDE THE CREATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF DIPLAHAN, PROVINCE OF ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR

WHEREAS, Batas Pambansa Bilang 48, approved on December 19, 1979, provides for the creation of the Municipality of Diplahan, Province of Zamboanga del Sur, out of the barangays of Diplahan, Kauswagan, Butong, Sta. Cruz, Lobing, Goling, Songcoya, Lindang and the sitios of Managon, Tono, Mejo and Tinongtongan in the Municipality of Malangas; the barangays of Del Monte, Moyo, Guitom, Gaulan, Villacastor, Bakangao and Sampole in the Municipality of Buug; and the barangays of Ditay, Ginoman, Lu-op, Del Pilar, Paradise, Maneja, and Sampole in the Municipality of Siay, all within the Province of Zamboanga del Sur;

WHEREAS, the aforesaid law also provides that a plebiscite shall be held in the areas affected within a period of ninety (90) days from the approval of the said Act, to determine whether the barangays specified therein shall become a new municipality to be known as the Municipality of Diplahan, Province of Zamboanga del Sur;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law pursuant to Batas Pambansa Bilang 48, do hereby direct the following:

(1) On February 21, 1980 a plebiscite shall be held in the barangays of Diplahan, Kauswagan, Butong, Sta. Cruz, Lobing, Goling, Songcoya, Lindang and the sitios of Managon, Tono, Mejo and Tinongtongan in the Municipality of Manangas; the barangays of Del Monte, Moyo, Guitom, Gaulan, Villacastor, Balangao and Sampole in the Municipality of Buug; and the barangays of Ditay, Ginoman, Lu-op, Del Pilar, Paradise, Maneja, and Sampole in the Municipality of Siay, all within the Province of Zamboanga del Sur; to determine whether the said barangays and sitios shall become a new municipality to be known as the Municipality of Diplahan, Province of Zamboanga del Sur.1aшphi1

(2) The Commission on Elections shall supervise the conduct of the aforesaid plebiscite and shall promulgate the rules and regulations necessary to implement this proclamation.
