[ Proclamation No. 1932, December 19, 1979 ]

AUTHORIZING THE SALVATION ARMY SOCIAL SERVICES, INC. TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL AND FUND CAMPAIGN DURING THE PERIOD FROM JANUARY 1 TO DECEMBER 31, 1980.

WHEREAS, the Salvation Army Social Services, Inc. is a world-wide organization engaged in massive humanitarian activities throughout the world;

WHEREAS, the Salvation Army Social Services, Inc. has been operating in the Philippines for almost half a century, earnestly serving the Filipino people, especially the poor and the underprivileged;

WHEREAS, in 1979, the “International Year of the Child,” the Salvation Army Social Services, Inc. is gearing its major projects towards the uplift of Filipino children, particularly in line with the observance of the “Decade of the Filipino Child” as proclaimed previously by this Administration; and

WHEREAS, the Salvation Army Social Services, Inc., in the pursuit of its expanded program of child welfare work in the Philippines, which will benefit millions of Filipino children throughout the Archipelago, will require sufficient resources with which it may be able to fund its varied projects;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Salvation Army Social Services, Inc., to conduct a national educational and fund campaign during the period from January 1 to December 31, 1980.

I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines, regardless of nationality or creed, to support actively and give generously of their means to The Salvation Army Social Services, Inc., so as to enable this illustrious charitable organization to pursue a more vigorous program of humanitarian activities for the benefit of Filipino children, in line with the observance of “The International Year of the Child” in 1979 and the “Decade of the Filipino Child” from 1977 to 1987.

All donations or contributions which may be made by private entities or persons to The Salvation Army Social Services, Inc. shall be exempt from income and gift taxes, and the same shall further be deductible in full and shall not be included for purposes of computing the maximum amount deductible under Section 30, paragraph (h) of the National Internal Revenue Code, as amended.1aшphi1
