[ Proclamation No. 1926, November 13, 1979 ]

AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE BAND OF MERCY, INC. TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL, MEMBERSHIP AND FUND CAMPAIGN FROM SEPTEMBER 1, 1979 TO AUGUST 31, 1980

WHEREAS, the Philippine Band of Mercy, Inc. (PBM) undertakes habilitation and rehabilitation projects for the upliftment of the indigent physical handicapped on a national scale;

WHEREAS, the objectives of the PBM seek to make this organization more relevant to the expanding social, medical and economic rehabilitation needs of the underprivileged physical handicapped in the Philippines;

WHEREAS, the PBM is committed to pursuing its Plan of Action and Program Strategies in observance of the International Year of the Child 1979 and the Decade of the Filipino Child 1977-1987 under Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC); and

WHEREAS, in order that the humanitarian and welfare objectives of the PBM may be fully achieved, the moral and financial support of the populace is necessary;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Philippine Band Mercy, Inc. to conduct its national educational, membership and fund campaign during the period from September 1, 1979 to August 31, 1980.

In view hereof, I hereby call upon all residents of the Philippines, whatever race or creed, business, commercial and industrial firms, professional and civic groups, school personnel and employees of government offices and agencies throughout the country to fully support the educational, membership and fund campaign of the Philippine Band of Mercy, Inc., by giving generously of their means to this fund campaign for the uplift of our less fortunate physically handicapped countrymen, especially the children.1aшphi1

For this purpose, all donation, bequests, gifts received by the Philippine Band of Mercy, Inc. for the implementation of its program activities shall be free from all forms of taxes and shall be deductible in full from the income of the donors in accordance with law, for income tax purposes.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
