[ Proclamation No. 1894, September 2, 1979 ]

DECLARING THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 1979, AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN THE PROVINCE OF MARINDUQUE.

WHEREAS, Thursday, September 13, 1979 marks the anniversary of the Battle of Pulang Lupa between the United States Army and the Filipino revolutionary forces;

WHEREAS, the Filipinos fought valiantly in this famous battle and with great determination and discipline defeated the better armed American contingent; and

WHEREAS, the people of Marinduque desire to celebrate this event with fitting ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Thursday, September 13, 1979, as a special public holiday in the Province of Marinduque, but it shall be a regular working and school day.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
