[ Proclamation No. 1883, August 14, 1979 ]

AUTHORIZING THE GIRL SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES TO CONDUCT A SPECIAL NATIONAL FUND CAMPAIGN DURING THE PERIOD JULY 15, 1979 TO DECEMBER 31, 1980 IN OBSERVANCE OF ITS RUBY ANNIVERSARY.

WHEREAS, youth development and training is a continuing primary concern of the New Society in its efforts to build a strong, healthy and responsible citizenry with the mandate of the New Constitution;

WHEREAS, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines for the past 39 years has consistently shown its effectivity as a vehicle for character-building and citizenship training;

WHEREAS, the Government, in recognition of the GSP’s important role and invaluable contribution to national development has included Girl Scouting in the high school curriculum;

WHEREAS, the GSP Organization is observing its Ruby Anniversary in 1980 and has incorporated into its plan of work, special impact community development and service projects on all its levels of operations to achieve its goals; and

WHEREAS, the GSP Organization deserves public support to enable it to carry on with its laudable activities;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Girl Scouts of the Philippines to conduct a special National Fund Drive from July 15, 1979 to December 31, 1980. I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines to wholeheartedly support this campaign and give generously of their means to enable the Girl Scouts of the Philippines to carry on with its character building and citizenship training programs.
