[ Proclamation No. 1846, April 23, 1979 ]

DECLARING MAY 8 OF EVERY YEAR AS MASANTOL FOUNDATION DAY AND AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN MASANTOL, PAMPANGA

WHEREAS, the formal founding of the town of Masantol, upon its segregation from Macabebe, Pampanga, as per its local annals and data secured from historical facts in Pampanga, is fixed around May 8, 1979;

WHEREAS, in the one hundred years of its existence, the town of Masantol had been known and made famous for bravery, courage and military valor of its soldiers, especially during World War II, which was exemplified in the battlefields of the Bataan Corregidor;

WHEREAS, the commemoration of Masantol’s Foundation Day will not only relive the memories of its glorious past, but, more importantly, will serve as the focal point for the eternal devotion and dedication of all Masantoleños to the cause of peace, progress, prosperity and unity, which are some of the noble aims and objectives of our New Society;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E, MARCOS, President and Prime Minister of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law and upon the recommendation of the Sangguniang Bayan, Masantol, Pampanga embodied in Resolution No. 79-3, adopted February 4, 1979, do hereby declare May 8 of every year as Masantol Foundation Day and as a special public holiday in Masantol, Pampanga.1aшphi1
