[ Proclamation No. 1822, February 27, 1979 ]
PROCLAIMING THE NATIONWIDE MEMBERSHIP AND FUND CAMPAIGN OF THE PHILIPPINE NATIONAL RED CROSS FOR THE YEAR 1979 AND EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER.
WHEREAS, under Presidential Decree No. 1264 dated December 15, 1977, the Philippine National Red Cross in the duly constituted voluntary organization officially designated to assist the Republic of the Philippines in discharging the obligations set forth in the Geneva Conventions and to perform such other duties as are incumbent upon a National Red Cross Society;
WHEREAS, in the 32 years of its existence as a National Society, the Philippine National Red Cross has proved an effective auxiliary to the government in the field of relief, health and welfare;
WHEREAS, the aforesaid Decree directs that the Philippine National Red Cross shall be financed primarily by contributions obtained through solicitation campaigns throughout the year;
NOW, THEREFORE, I FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby proclaims the nationwide membership and fund campaign of the Philippine National Red Cross for the year 1979 and every year thereafter;
I hereby enjoin all citizens and residents of the Philippines, irrespective of nationality or creed, to give generously and participate in the humanitarian endeavor.
All national and local officials are hereby authorized to accept fund raising responsibilities and take initiative and assume active leadership in the Red Cross membership and fund campaign in their respective communities.1aшphi1
