[ Proclamation No. 1787, September 20, 1978 ]

DECLARING NOVEMBER 5 TO 12, 1978, AND THE SAME PERIOD EVERY YEAR HEREAFTER AS “JAYCEES INTERNATIONAL WEEK”

WHEREAS, the Jaycee movement was born from a conviction that through the concerted efforts of young men everywhere ours could be a better world for all;

WHEREAS, 30 years ago the Manila Jaycees was founded and this Chapter pioneered Jayceeism not only in the Philippines but throughout Asia;

WHEREAS, the Philippine Jaycees and its chapters have time and again, distinguished themselves worldwide and have provided three of the international presidents of the organization;

WHEREAS, the Jaycees in the Philippines have made notable contributions to the leadership of the country and to the progress and development of the nation;

WHEREAS, Manila has been chosen as the site of the XXXIII JCI World Congress, in which at least 5,000 Jaycees from 83 member countries will meet under the theme “Our Children Our Future” from November 5 to 12 this year; and

WHEREAS, this international meeting will bring honor and prestige to the Philippines, and further focus attention on the aspirations and achievements of our people and, it is, therefore, an event which deserves our recognition and support.1aшphi1

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period November 5 to 12, 1978, and the same period every year hereafter, as “Jaycees International Week”, in honor of this movement.

I further enjoin the appropriate agencies of the government, including the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Metro Manila Commission, the Bureau of Immigration, the Bureau of Customs, and the Philippine Convention Bureau, to help assure the success of the XXXIII JCI Congress at Manila.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
