[ Proclamation No. 1781, September 1, 1978 ]

DECLARING THE YEAR 1978 AS PUERICULTURE CENTER MOVEMENT YEAR.

WHEREAS, the puericulture center movement will mark this year its Diamond (65th) Anniversary;

WHEREAS, the movement — the only one of its kind in the whole world — has played an important role in lowering infant and maternal mortality in the country;

WHEREAS, in its more than six decades of existence it has expanded its services to include general medical cases and it has rendered great service to the poor and indigents in the rural areas;

WHEREAS, in cooperation with the Government’s program of population control, the movement has further expanded its services and set a goal of “Family planning as a way of life in the New Society;” and

WHEREAS, it has also implemented and participated in nationwide Nutrition Programs;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the year 1978 as Puericulture Center Movement Year.1aшphi1
