DECLARING SATURDAY, AUGUST 19, 1978, AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY.

WHEREAS, the centennial birth anniversary of the late President Manuel Luis Quezon falls on August 19, 1978;

WHEREAS, as a fitting honor to the late President Quezon and to project his invaluable contributions to the political emancipation of our people and the promotion or our national progress during his stewardship of the government, Proclamation No. 1726 dated March 31, 1978, was issued declaring 1978 as Manuel L. Quezon Centennial Year and designating the National Historical Institute to take charge of the celebration; and

WHEREAS, the Filipino people should be given full opportunity to celebrate the event with fitting ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President and Prime Minister of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Saturday, August 19, 1978, as a special public holiday.1aшphi1
