MALACAÑAN PALACE MANILA BY THE PRESIDENT AND PRIME MINISTER OF THE PHILIPPINES [ Proclamation No. 1752, June 22, 1978 ] DESIGNATING THE PERIOD FROM JUNE 1 TO DECEMBER 31, 1978 FOR THE ANNUAL EDUCATIONAL AND FUND CAMPAIGN OF UNITED WAY AND COMMUNITY CHEST ORGANIZATIONS IN THE PHILIPPINES WHEREAS, the United Way and Community Chest organizations in the Philippines are engaged in the funding of community health and welfare services, as well as in the promotion of economic well-being of the people in the different parts of the country; WHEREAS, in the promotion of such economic well-being, Barangay Improvement Corps or BRICs have been organized in almost all of the provinces, cities and municipalities; WHEREAS, the United Way and Community Chest organizations unite into one annual appeal the campaigns for public assistance to the health and welfare needs of the more needy among our citizens; and WHEREAS, it is desired that the humanitarian objectives of the United Way Philippines, Inc., (formerly Community Chests and Councils of the Philippines, Inc.) be fully attained; NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President and Prime Minister of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby designate the period from June 1 to December 31, 1978 for the annual educational and fund campaign of all United Way and Community Chest organizations in the Philippines and the holding of special events thereafter under the auspices and supervision of the United Way Philippines, Inc. I hereby call upon all residents, of whatever race or creed, business firms, organizations, and government officials and employees in the areas above-mentioned to support the campaigns of the United Way and Community Chest organizations, by giving generously of their means and volunteer efforts to this one annual appeal campaign for the promotion of the health, welfare and economic well-being of our less fortunate countrymen, in their respective areas of operation.
