BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES

[ Proclamation No. 1744, June 11, 1978 ]

DECLARING FUGA ISLAND, INCLUDING BARIT AND MABAG ISLANDS, ALL OF THE PROVINCE OF CAGAYAN, AND THE SEA AROUND THEM AN UNDERWATER MUSEUM AS WELL AS A MARINE PRESERVE.

By virtue of the powers vested in me by law, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby declare Fuga Island, including Barit and Mabag Islands, and the sea around the island group up to four kilometers from the shorelines in the province of Cagayan, as an underwater museum as well as marine preserve. No person may fish or catch any form of marine life in the area without specific permission issued by the Office of the President.

The Philippine Navy and the Philippine Coast Guard are hereby directed to establish a Station in the area to enforce the preserve.

Violations of this proclamation shall be penalized under the provisions of the Revised Penal Code or other pertinent laws and regulations.1aшphi1
