[ Proclamation No. 1741, June 1, 1978 ]

DECLARING JUNE 12, 1978, AS THE DATE WHEN THE INTERIM BATASANG PAMBANSA SHALL BE CONVENED.

WHEREAS, Amendment No. 3 of the October 16-17, 1976 Amendments to the Constitution provides that the incumbent President of the Philippines shall, within 30 days from the election and selection of the Members of the Interim Batasang Pambansa, convene the said assembly;

WHEREAS, the election of the regional and sectoral representatives was held on April 7 and 27, 1978 respectively, and the selection by the incumbent President of the present Members of the Cabinet who shall likewise become Members of the Interim Batasang Pambansa, has already been made;

WHEREAS, the convening of the Interim Batasang Pambansa is a significant milestone in our country’s historical struggle and quest for a lasting and meaningful independence;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby declare June 12, 1978 as the date when the Interim Batasang Pambansa shall be convened.1aшphi1
