DECLARING JUNE 9, 1978, AND EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER AS “SANOY” LEVISTE DAY, AND A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN THE PROVINCE OF BATANGAS AND CITIES THEREIN

WHEREAS, the late Governor Feliciano P. Leviste of the Province of Batangas is widely known as the “Father of Community Development”;

WHEREAS, the late Governor’s visionary commitment to community development resulted in hastening social regeneration in the barrios of Batangas;

WHEREAS, the late Governor’s community development programs encouraged the people to work in communion with each other;

WHEREAS, the late Governor marshalled cooperative activity toward the creation of a just and human society;

WHEREAS, June 9, 1978 is the 80th anniversary of the late Governor Feliciano P. Leviste of the Province of Batangas;

WHEREAS, the Batangas Provincial Government, in recognition of the late Governor’s competence and dedication to public service for a period of twenty-four (24) consecutive years has resolved to underscore the late Governor’s commitment to the barrio people and their Barangay Captains by declaring June 9 as Governor Feliciano “Sanoy” Leviste Day in Batangas: Thus, honoring the late Governor and simultaneously all of the Barangay Captains of the province and giving the outstanding Barangay Captains due recognition and appropriate awards on this day;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby proclaim June 9, 1978 and every year thereafter as “Sanoy” Leviste Day, to be a Special Public Holiday in the Province of Batangas including the Cities of Batangas and Lipa, and to be the occasion of honoring outstanding Barangay Captains and their achievements.
