AUTHORIZING THE GIRL SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL FUND CAMPAIGN DURING THE PERIOD FROM JULY 1 TO DECEMBER 31, 1977.

WHEREAS, youth development and training is a primary concern of the New Society in its efforts to build a strong, healthy and responsible citizenry pursuant to the new Constitution;

WHEREAS, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) which at present counts with around 1,500,000 members, has consistently shown for the last 37 years its effectivity as a vehicle for character-building and citizenship training;

WHEREAS, the Government, in recognition of the GSP’s important role and invaluable contribution to national development, has included Girl Scouting in the high school curriculum; and

WHEREAS, funds should be generated to meet the needs of the GSP Movement so brought about by its inclusion in the curriculum and its community service projects;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Girl Scouts of the Philippines to conduct a national fund drive during the period from July 1 to December 31, 1977. I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines to wholeheartedly support this campaign and give generously of their means to enable the Girl Scouts of the Philippines to carry on its important task.
