[ Proclamation No. 1712, February 8, 1978 ]

AUTHORIZING THE PHILIPPINE TUBERCULOSIS SOCIETY, INC. TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL AND FUND CAMPAIGN DURING THE PERIOD FROM JANUARY 15 TO DECEMBER 31, 1978.

WHEREAS, The Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc. complements and supports the program of the Government aimed at controlling and eventually eradicating tuberculosis as a cause of the physical, economical and social miseries of a great number of people;

WHEREAS, there is an urgent need for the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc. to continue with its activities of education, prevention and treatment in order to reduce the threat posed by this disease on the health of our people;

WHEREAS, the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc. needs the intensified participation and involvement of all sectors of the community to support its expansion program aimed at accelerating its efforts to provide anti-TB services nationwide; and

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the community that the humanitarian objectives of the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc. are successfully met;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc. to conduct its national educational and fund campaign during the period from January 15 to December 31, 1978.

I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines, regardless of race or creed, to support actively, and give generously of their time and resources to the anti-TB cause, so as to hasten the control of this debilitating disease, minimize human suffering among the afflicted, and secure a healthier future free from its dangerous for all our people.

It is hereby reiterated that all donations and contributions to and income of the fund campaign shall be exempt from income, gift, amusement and all other taxes, and the same shall constitute allowable deductions in full from the income of the donors and contributors, and shall not be included for purposes of computing the maximum amount deductible under Section 30, paragraph (h), of the National Internal Revenue Code, as amended.
