[ Proclamation No. 1702, January 11, 1978 ]

PROCLAIMING FEBRUARY 13, 1978 AND EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER AS PAMPANGA DAY AND IT IS FURTHER PROCLAIMED THAT THE SAME DATE AND EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER BE MADE A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN THE PROVINCE OF PAMPANGA, PHILIPPINES

WHEREAS, a civil government was established in the Province of Pampanga on February 13, 1901 with Bacolor, Pampanga, as capital of the Philippines and Governor Ceferino Joven as its first Civil Governor;

WHEREAS, from the time said civil government was first established, Pampanga has progressed by leaps and bounds owing to the services of dedicated Pampanguenos;

WHEREAS, in order to preserve local heritage which our youths may emulate in their understanding and pursuit of goals, it is necessary that this historic event be commemorated by honoring the distinguished sons and daughters of Pampanga who have excelled in various fields such as Science, Arts, public service, health, business, etc. . .

NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the powers vested in me as President of the Republic of the Philippines, I hereby proclaim February 13, 1978 and every year thereafter as Pampanga Day.1aшphi1

I further proclaim that the same date and every year thereafter be made public holiday for the Province of Pampanga, Philippines.
