DECLARING WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 1977, AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY

WHEREAS, on Wednesday, September 21, 1977, we celebrate our National Thanksgiving Day to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the New Society which ushered in an era of peace and prosperity in the country;

WHEREAS, the New Society in its five years of existence, has taken great strides in its effort towards the social and economic upliftment of the life and well-being of the common man;

WHEREAS, the advent of the New Society is undoubtedly the most significant milestone in our struggle for progress; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that we pause for a day from our work and ponder on the significance of this momentous event in our history;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Wednesday, September 21, 1977, as a special public holiday.1aшphi1
