DECLARING TUESDAY, AUGUST 23, 1977, AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN CALOOCAN CITY AND QUEZON CITY.

WHEREAS, Tuesday, August 23, 1977, marks the anniversary of the “Cry of Balintawak,” which symbolized the start of the Filipino national resistance against Spanish authorities; and

WHEREAS, the residents of Caloocan City and Quezon City where the incident took place desire to celebrate the event with appropriate ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Tuesday, August 23, 1977, as a special public holiday in Caloocan City and Quezon City.
