[ Proclamation No. 1654, July 13, 1977 ]

AUTHORIZING THE FAMILY PHYSICIANS’ FOUNDATION OF THE PHILIPPINES INC. TO CONDUCT AN EDUCATIONAL, MEMBERSHIP AND FUND CAMPAIGN FROM JULY 15 TO DECEMBER 31, 1977.

WHEREAS, the Family Physicians’ Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. (FPFP) is a non-profit, non-stock corporation organized to upgrade medical practice in the Philippines through a continuing medical education and the acquisition of adequate medical equipments for the use of medical practitioners in the rural areas;

WHEREAS, with the rapidly increasing cost of medical care and hospital services not only in the cities and urban areas but also in the rural areas, rural folks may no longer afford the budget of adequate medical care;

WHEREAS, the Family Physicians’ Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. (FPFP) through its humanitarian aims and purposes now seek to check this imbalance by giving incentives to qualified and competent physicians to practice and reside in the rural areas by extending to them the use of adequate medical equipments and by granting scholarships in various training centers and seminars on modern trends in medical care and technology by urban-trained doctors and lecturers.

WHEREAS, in addition to the above, the Family Physicians’ Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. (FPFP) will subsidize medical scholarships to deserving medical students who will eventually be assigned to the rural areas to uplift medicare in such depressed places; and

WHEREAS, the laudable aims and purposes of this organization will certainly compliment the government rural health programs and therefore deserve public support;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Family Physicians’ Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. (FPFP) to conduct an educational, membership and fund campaign from July 15 to December 31, 1977.

I urge all public and private organizations and citizens and residents of this country to give generously of their means to enable the said organization to realize its objectives.1aшphi1
