[ Proclamation No. 1646, June 2, 1977 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM JUNE 22 TO 29 AS PROFESSIONAL CONSCIOUSNESS WEEK.

WHEREAS, the processions with their thorough preparation and expertise, are a district segment of Philippine Society which bears a heavy portion of the responsibilities in, and the burdens of, nation building;

WHEREAS, in recognition of this role of the professionals in nation building under the New Society, Presidential Decree No. 223 was promulgated on June 22, 1973 creating the Professional Regulation Commission;

WHEREAS, it is deemed fitting and proper to honor and acknowledge their invaluable service to, and support of, the New Society; and

WHEREAS, there is a need to focus attention to the spirit of professionalism as the goal toward which all workers should strive so that excellence and thoroughness becomes the norm in whatever job a citizen in engaged;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby declare the period from June 22 to 29 of every year as “Professional Consciousness Week” under the auspices of the Professional Regulation Commission, the Regulatory Boards and the accredited professional associations.
