DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM MAY 12 TO 14, 1977, AS RURAL BANKING WEEK.

WHEREAS, the 24th Annual Convention of Rural Bankers will be held on May 12 to 14, under the joint sponsorship of the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines and the Central Bank of the Philippines;

WHEREAS, rural banks, as principal source of financing in the rural sector have been instrumental in increasing agricultural productivity thereby elevating the level of living in the rural communities;

WHEREAS, rural banking, as an instrument of growth, is a vital cog in the wheel of economic progress;

WHEREAS, it is fitting that public attention be focused on the significant role of the rural banking system in accelerating countryside development;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from May 12 to 14, 1977, as “Rural Banking Week” under the auspices of the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines and other involved agencies.
