[ Proclamation No. 1627, March 24, 1977 ]

DECLARING THE LAST WEEK OF APRIL A NATIONAL BUDGET WEEK

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to renew national attention on the budget as a tool for development through the annual celebration of a National Budget Week;

WHEREAS, on April 25, 1936, by virtue of Executive Order No. 25, the Budget Commission was created under the direct supervision and control of the President; and

WHEREAS, the last week of April would be an appropriate period to enhance budget consciousness, thus also marking the annual anniversary of the founding of the Budget Commission;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, hereby declare the last full week of April of each year as "National Budget Week".

I hereby call upon all professional groups, directly or indirectly involved in the national budget process, to extend their support and participation in making the Week's observance a success.1aшphi1

I also urge the heads of the various departments, agencies, and instrumentalities of the government, including government-owned and/or controlled corporations to hold appropriate programs and activities during the week in observance of the National Budget Week.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
