[ Proclamation No. 1619, February 18, 1977 ]

EXTENDING THE PERIOD OF THE NATIONWIDE GREEN REVOLUTION EDUCATIONAL AND FUND CAMPAIGN AUTHORIZED UNDER PROCLAMATION NO. 1527 DATED JANUARY 6, 1976, TO DECEMBER 31, 1977.

WHEREAS, the Green Revolution Project is a necessary corollary to the Nutrition Program encouraging the backyard planting of nourishing vegetables and fruits;

WHEREAS, the general levels of malnutrition, particularly among children below 6 years old require that we intensify efforts to provide a permanent solution by having each family raise its own food requirements within its surroundings;

WHEREAS, it is necessary that we develop local seed production centers to fill our Green Revolution needs, in line with the policy of self-sufficient in food of the New Society; and

WHEREAS, the Fund Drive authorizing the Green Revolution of 1976 could not be implemented until late in the year due to typhoons and floods that affected the North and the earthquakes in Mindanao and the targets could not be achieved thereby affecting the implementation of the Green Revolution Program;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E, MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby extend the Green Revolution National and Educational Fund Campaign, authorized under Proclamation No. 1527, to December 31, 1977.

I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines, irrespective of nationality or creed, to give generously and participate actively in this drive and thus help insure the continued well-being of the Filipino people and the economic stability of the Republic. Government agencies are hereby also authorized to make cash donations to the Green Revolution.

It is hereby reiterated that all donations or contributions which may be made by private entities or persons to the Green Revolution Fund Campaign and prizes won in special events and contests held in connection with this fund campaign shall be exempt from income and gift taxes, and the same all constitute allowable deductions in full from the income of the donors and contributors for income tax purposes.1aшphi1
