ESTABLISHING AS BAUXITE MINING RESERVATION ALL THE BAUXITE DEPOSITS AND BAUXITE-BEARING LANDS IN THE MAINLAND OF SAMAR AND THE BATAG ISLAND, LAOANG, NORTHERN SAMAR, PHILIPPINES.
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Mines had already finished conducting extensive studies of the prospective bauxite deposits in the country for the purpose of determining the extent of alumina reserves;
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Mines has determined that the most significant bauxite deposits are found within the mainland of Samar, and the Batag Island, Laoang, Northern Samar; and
WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the State that the said bauxite deposits and bauxite-bearing lands be reserved for industrial and commercial uses;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, and upon the recommendation of the Secretary of Natural Resources, hereby set apart, subject to valid existing rights which the Government may acquire by negotiation, as reservation under the administration of the Bureau of Mines, for the purpose of developing, exploiting, and utilizing the bauxite deposits found therein, such parcels of land in the mainland of Samar including Batag Island, Laoang, Northern Samar, Philippines, and more particularly described, as follows:
