[ Proclamation No. 1591, October 15, 1976 ]

EXTENDING THE PERIOD OF VOTING FOR THE REFERENDUM-PLEBISCITE UP TO BUT NOT BEYOND NOON OF OCTOBER 17, 1976.

WHEREAS, due to the increase in the number of registered barangay voters throughout the country, the Commission on Elections has submitted the view that the voting in the referendum-plebiscite may not be completed in one day;

WHEREAS, it is imperative that the barangay voters be afforded ample opportunity to participate in the referendum-plebiscite;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers in me vested by the Constitution do hereby extend the period of voting for the referendum-plebiscite throughout the country from October 16 up to but not beyond noon of October 17, 1976; Provided, however, That the Commission on Elections may authorize the voting in any barangay referendum-plebiscite center to continue unabated in places where the voting may be completed in the same day without causing undue inconvenience to the voters.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS HEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and cause the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
