DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM OCTOBER 11 TO 17, 1976, AS “DEAF AWARENESS WEEK”.

WHEREAS, the Philippine Association of the Deaf, Inc. is celebrating its Golden Jubilee on October 17, 1976, after fifty years of dedicated service to the deaf members of our society;

WHEREAS, the Association has been providing the deaf free education, vocational training and job opportunities for the development of their potentials; and

WHEREAS, there is a need to awaken the sympathy and understanding of the general public on the welfare of the deaf to enable them to find their rightful place in society;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare the period from October 11-17, 1976, as “DEAF AWARENESS WEEK” under the auspices of the Philippine Association of the Deaf, Inc. and other involved organizations.
