[ Proclamation No. 1573, August 18, 1976 ]

DECLARING MONDAY, AUGUST 23, 1976, AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN THE CITIES OF QUEZON AND CALOOCAN.

WHEREAS, the twenty-third day of August marks the anniversary of the “City of Balintawak” which symbolizes our people’s defiance to foreign domination;

WHEREAS, this historic event is traditionally jointly observed by the cities of Quezon and Caloocan because Balintawak, now in Quezon City, used to be part of Caloocan;

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the residents of both cities be given full opportunity to celebrate the aforesaid event;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday, August 23, 1976, as a special public holiday in the cities of Quezon and Caloocan.1aшphi1
