[ Proclamation No. 1553, June 17, 1976 ]

DECLARING THURSDAY, JUNE 24, 1976, AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN MANILA.

WHEREAS, the City of Manila celebrates the twenty-fourth day of June as “Araw ng Maynila” marking the foundation of the City in 1571;

WHEREAS, under the Presidential Decree No. 940 the City of Manila was declared as the capital of the Philippines and the permanent seat of the National Government;

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the residents of Manila be given full opportunity to celebrate this milestone in their city’s history;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Thursday, June 24, 1976, as a special public holiday in the City of Manila.1aшphi1

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
