ESTABLISHING AS COAL MINING RESERVATION ALL THE COAL DEPOSITS AND COAL-BEARING LANDS IN THE CENTRAL PORTION OF THE PROVINCE OF CEBU, PHILIPPINES.
WHEREAS, the Government is presently undertaking further extensive studies on prospective coal deposits in the country as a ready substitute to the worldwide acute oil shortage and to avert any possible energy crisis locally;
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Mines has conducted geological studies of the coal deposits in the Province of Cebu and is presently engaged in extensive diamond drilling activities in some interesting coal areas in said province with the object of determining the possible coal reserves therein for industrial uses; and
WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the State that the land covered by the exploration and drilling work currently being undertaken by the Bureau of Mines and the surrounding areas be reserved for this purpose;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law and upon the recommendation of the Secretary of Natural Resources, hereby set apart, subject to valid existing rights, which the Government may acquire by negotiation, as reservation under the administration of the Bureau of Mines, for the purpose of developing, exploiting, and utilizing the coal deposits found therein, a parcel of land in the Province of Cebu, Island of Cebu, Philippines, more particularly described and bounded as follows:
Beginning at point 1 marked on Plan CI-42 which is S 48º 40’W., 3,786.67 M more or less from M.B.M. No. 9 Minglanilla-Naga, Cebu; thence Due South, 1,000.00 M to point 2; thence Due West, 2,881.52 M to point 3; thence Due North, 3,000.00 M to point 4; thence Due East 1,964.06 M to point 5; thence N, 22º 00' E., 1,012.77 M to point 6; thence S 58º 21' E., 3,120.36 M to point 7; thence S 58º 26' W., 2,485.94 M to point 1, point of beginning, containing an area of 1,264.00 hectares more or less.
