[ Proclamation No. 1537, March 5, 1976 ]

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM MARCH 7 TO 12, 1976, AS HUMAN SETTLEMENTS WEEK.

WHEREAS, human settlements development is a primary area of the New Society’s program to improve the quality of life and promote the happiness and well-being of the Filipino people;

WHEREAS, HABITAT: The United Nations Conference on Human Settlements will be held in June, 1976 in Vancouver, Canada;

WHEREAS, as a major national support activity for HABITAT, a National Conference on Human Settlements will be held in the Philippines from March 7 to 12, 1976, under the auspices of the National Preparatory Committee for HABITAT to crystallize the national action program on human settlements and the national views and proposals that will be propounded by the Philippine delegates to HABITAT; and

WHEREAS, it is desirable that the National Conference on Human Settlement be appropriately and forcefully brought to the public consciousness;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby proclaim the period from March 7 to 12, 1976, as National Human Settlements Week.1aшphi1

I take this occasion to commend human settlements planners and decision makers attending the National Conference on Human Settlements for their effort in the improvement of the quality of life and the promotion of the happiness of our people.

I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines to support and participate actively in the human settlements activities scheduled during the week.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
