[ Proclamation No. 1536, March 5, 1976 ]

AUTHORIZING THE “DR. GUILLERMO C. DE VEGA MEMORIAL MOVIE WORKERS WELFARE FOUNDATION, INC.” (FORMERLY MOVIE WORKERS WELFARE FOUNDATION, INC.) TO CONDUCT ITS SECOND GENERAL EDUCATIONAL MEMBERSHIP, AND FUND CAMPAIGN THROUGHOUT THE PHILIPPINES FROM FEBRUARY 1 TO DECEMBER 31, 1976 AND ENJOINING THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO SUPPORT THE CAMPAIGN.

WHEREAS, the Dr. Guillermo C. De Vega Memorial Movie Workers Welfare Foundation, Inc. (Dr. Guillermo C. De Vega Memorial MOWELFUND) was organized for the welfare and benefit of the workers of the Philippine motion picture industry;

WHEREAS, this Foundation is a fine example of a situation where the more affluent, more influential and more economically stable persons of a specific industry band together for the welfare and betterment of the less privileged members of that industry;

WHEREAS, the Philippine motion picture industry as a whole, through the efforts of the movie workers and the leadership of the motion picture producers, contribute more than P300,000,000.00 annually to the economy of the country, not counting the educational, cultural, and entertainment value of the motion pictures to the Filipino people;

WHEREAS, the Foundation is embarking on its second general educational, membership, and fund campaign through the support of the general public in order to carry out its purpose of serving the interests and welfare of the movie workers;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby authorize the Dr. Guillermo C. De Vega Memorial Movie Workers Welfare Foundation, Inc. to conduct its 1976 MOWELFUND general, educational, membership and fund campaign for the period from February 1 to December 31, 1976 throughout the Philippines. I enjoin the public to extend full assistance to the said Foundation whenever and wherever possible, in this worthy and laudable undertaking.
