[ Proclamation No. 1449, June 27, 1975 ]

DESIGNATING THE PERIOD FROM AUGUST 1 TO DECEMBER 31, 1975, FOR THE NATIONAL FUND CAMPAIGN OF THE GIRL SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES.

WHEREAS, youth development and training is a primary concern of the New Society in its efforts to build a strong, healthy and responsible citizenry in accordance with the mandate of the new Constitution;

WHEREAS, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) has, through its program of character-building and citizenship training for Filipino girls, consistently served the nation for the last 35 years;

WHEREAS, the Government, in recognition of the GSP’s valuable contribution to nation-building and youth development, has decreed the inclusion of Girl Scouting in the high school curriculum;

WHEREAS, the GSP organization needs funds to sustain its existing community service projects and activities and to support the program which the inclusion of Scouting in the curriculum would necessarily require; and

WHEREAS, by supporting Scouting and being involved in its program and activities, every Filipino as well as other contributors will be helping the Philippines and the New Society;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALEJANDRO MELCHOR, Executive Secretary, by order of His Excellency, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, do hereby authorize the Girl Scouts of the Philippines to conduct a national fund drive during the period from August 1 to December 31, 1975. I call upon all citizens and residents of the Philippines to assist wholeheartedly in this campaign and to give generously of their means so that the Girl Scouts of the Philippines may be assured of adequate funds with which to carry on its work.1aшphi1
