ENJOINING SUPPORT FOR INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S YEAR

WHEREAS, the United Nations General Assembly has declared and designated 1975 as International Women’s Year, the central theme of which is, “Equality, Development and Peace”;

WHEREAS, the United Nations has enjoined all its Members States to devote International Women’s Year to intensified efforts and undertakings to ensure the full integration of women in the total development effort;

WHEREAS, the Philippines, as a member of the United Nations and the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women and an active participant in the affairs of the world community, takes cognizance of the significant role of women in economic, social and cultural development;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby:

1. Direct all departments, agencies and instrumentalities of the Government to assist the National Committee for International Women’s Year in carrying out the programme and objectives of this year’s observance of International Women’s Year.

2. Enjoin all citizens of the Philippines, all universities and colleges and schools, the mass media, civic and voluntary organizations, religious organizations of all creeds, and business and industrial enterprises to participate in the celebration of the International Women’s Year.1aшphi1
